2 Years in 5 Days

Recently I have been thinking a lot about memories. I even made a film about it a while ago.

The other day I was looking at my old miniDV tapes, and discovered that i have over 120 of them, which means over 5 days of footage. Allthough five days might seem short, it’s a lot when you really think about it.

I want to be better and better at what I do, but some times there can be some major roadblocks to cross. Looking at those tapes today, gives me motivation to keep going. Some of them are funny to watch, some are really embarresing. But all in all they have given me the knowledge I have today.

It’s kinda weird to think that behind those 120 hours, there’s probably ten times as many that you can’t see; Carrying equipment back and forth. Making appointments. Being in meetings. Getting locations. Storyboarding. Editing. Waiting.

And then the big question comes; was it all worth it? Would you do it again?

The answer couldn’t have been more clear.

Every artist need originality. Using the same old ideas over and over again isn’t very good. But we all know that. What most of us don’t know is that there’s a very easy formula to get those great ideas.

Børre E. Werner wrote the book Eurekaformelen (The formula of Eureka) in 2009. By remembering the formula E=IQ^2, your “Eureka moments” will come to you in no time.

He describes the formula where;

E = Eureka
I = Investigation
Q = Question
^2 = Your subconscious

I don’t read a lot of books at all, but it’s easy to put this one in the “favorite pile”. It’s very easy to read, and it’s full of interesting stories. You should definitely check this book out. It will not only help you to get the great ideas you’ll always need, it will also give you some great stories and examples from the life of a great man.

Do you have a Gambling Problem?

It was a rainy day and nothing to do. The TV was boring and neighter xbox or playstation was tempting. What to do?
Make a short film.

This time I didn’t want to make some random short film for myself. I wanted to make a film that told the story of a serious issue. I don’t mean a depressing infomercial, but a short film people would watch and still be informed about this problem.

Now I had to find a problem to film. I didn’t want to make some local case, but on the other hand I didn’t want to do the whole “HIV/AIDS” -thing. Then it got to me; Problem Gambling.

This is not something that happens just in the movies. It’s not just in Vegas. It is around us all the time.

As always I’ll hold the story for myself a little longer, but I am actually starting shooting today. Or more precisely, tonight.

So there will most likely be some photos from the shoot tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Hello folks !

It’s been a while since my last post, but don’t panic! I’m still here, and I’m actually working on a brand new short film. Principal photography is a wrap, and the movie is now in post-production. This was, like almost every film I make, something completely different from what I’m used to; this time the cameraman is also the main actor. “First Person short film”, or “Point of View short film.” I don’t want to reveal the story just yet, but it’s kinda futuristic, so I had to make an interface for the main character. (That’s partly why post-production takes a lot of time this time. Time time, time.)

It’s supposed to be the memories of a person’s life in the future. Both good and bad memories. Now, when I say future, don’t go all in for the space stuff. It’s not going to be space ships. It’s not going to be robots. Over natural? Well maybe, but definitely no robots, sorry.

I considered looping (also called ADR. Automated dialogue replacement), but it was way too time-consuming, so I looped about half of the film. That means that the rest of it has the original audio track.

Some of you will love this film, and some will most likely not understand it. As long as you all enjoy it I’m happy

I hate to set a date for the release, but I hope it’s out this week. I hope.

My short film Slave just reached 1000 views on YouTube. Yay

I’m finally on Vimeo. There’s just one video there at the moment, but there are more to come.

I don’t know if this should even be one of the main points in this post, but anyways:

It’s summer! That means more time to make movies, and just chill out. So to all of you:
Have a super good summer, and really enjoy it. It’s been a great year for me so far, and I would also like to use this opportunity to thank you. Even though it’s summer, it might happen stuff on the site, so check back in whenever you feel like it
